Funny but not so Fresh
Last night, we went to the 1st Mariner Arena to see Bit Brigade and friends. The Arena was ok - it looked like a gymnasium but did the job. People were smoking weed in the floor seats in front of us (you could see the smoke), which was the only problem I had with the poor security. BMore is a tough crowd! They had no problem showing that they aren't feeling you. The comics were affected by the dry crowd to a certain degree. Gary Owen from "Think like a Man" had everyone cracking up - he was hilarious! Mike Epps' routine was funny at times, but there was definitely a disconnect with the demographics. Jokes about mentally disabled persons are in really bad taste. I know people are supposed to relax, but my friend who works with mentally disabled was not amused at all. The young demographic had a hard time getting into the Doug E.Fresh bit at the end. Some left while others stood there and recorded on their Iphones. I wish he would have told everyone to put their phones away. Mike Epps and Gary Owens had some really hilarious moments. The concept felt outdated, like 90's/2000's.
